George Michael - Too FunkySolely directed by designer/photographer/filmmaker Thierry Mugler, the video featured Michael (sporadically) as a director filming a number of supermodels, similarly to the video for his 1990 single "Freedom! '90". The supermodels featured in this video include Julie Newmar, Linda Evangelista, Tyra Banks, Beverly Peele, Nadja Auermann, Shana Zadrick, Emma Wiklund, Spanish actress - Rossy de Palma and Estelle Hallyday. The costumes that the models wore for the catwalk performance were designed by French fashion designer Thierry Mugler. The original edit included several male models who eventually went onto greater fame. They are Justin Chambers, star of Grey's Anatomy and Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou who was originally discovered in Paris by Mugler. Chris Whalley, Lipsinka, Zulaika, Joey Arias, and Stella were all featured in the originally released first version. Two versions of this videoclip were directed by Thierry Mugler, also a published photographer and commercial director. The music video was produced by Jeff Beasley through a collaborative effort between Bandits (founded by Jean-Baptiste Mondino - the famous fashion photographer and music video legend) located in Boulogne, France and DNA in Los Angeles. The clip was lensed by Mike Southon. The concept was written by Jeff Beasley after seeing Mugler's benefit fashion show several months before in Los Angeles. Beasley began representing the designer/photographer shortly thereafter as a filmmaker. Beasley worked at Propaganda Films where David Fincher directed "Freedom '90" - the supermodel video on which "Too Funky" is based. The same girls from Fincher's video were going to be used. Mugler decided, however, that he wanted new girls and only kept Linda Evangelista for the project.
